EASY ART- FLOWER FILLER
I was trying to come up with some art to add to my entry way this past week. Cheap and easy are ALWAYS adjectives that I gravitate towards and this particular piece is both!
I was walking through TARGET and spotted this decorative vase filler on clearance for a rock bottom price of $1.98!!!
After picking that up all I needed was a picture frame and a glue gun! I took the glass out of the frame and then glued the filler flowers directly to the frame backing!
There you have it- art on the cheap!!! Try this concept with all sorts of vase fillers or even elements found in nature.
DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!

ASIAN INSPIRED MASTER BATHROOM
I recently finished the renovation of a marvelous master bathroom. The owner wanted an asian inspired space. Watch the video below to see how it turned out!
By the time we had finished shooting the video it was too late to take good pictures plus I wanted to wait until the shower door and some stylish teak stools arrived. So check back later for photos of all the juicy details!!!!

TUFTED HEADBOARD HOW-TO continued. . .
Ok, so we left off just finishing our buttons which we will now tuft with!
Step 7- You need to find a big needle or a piece of wire that you can bend to create a hook. Now, thread string (make sure it is strong!) through the hook or eye of the needle and the button back, and then tie it off.
Step 8- Poke a skewer through one of the holes in the back of the headboard. As it pushes out the fabric in front make a small incision to allow the skewer to push through. If you are using a large needle you can skip this step.
Step 9- Remove the skewer and push your wire/needle through the front side to the back side.
Step 10- Once your wire/needle pops out the back of the headboard cut your string to release it from the wire/needle.
Step 11- Then hold the string as you pull the wire/needle back out the front.
Step 12- Last have someone push the button in from the front while you tie a knot in the back. Use a washer to keep the knot from going back through the hole.
Step 13- Finally, I used gimp (pictured below) to cover all visible staples.
And of course (since I can never leave anything looking normal) I added some fabric cutouts! It may not be for everyone, but I LOVE IT!!!!
A quick Before and After!

TUFTED HEADBOARD HOW-TO
No, I didn't forget about posting a upholstered headboard how-to! Even though November is over I'm back to share my first tufted undertaking! Here's what I started with.
Step 1- First, I painted the sides of my headboard because they were not going to be covered with fabric and painting before all these other steps is definitely the easiest method.
If you do not already have a headboard that you can start with, simply cut out a piece of plywood in your desired shape and skip to Step 3.
Step 2- I put a layer of batting within the insets that were already in my headboard to make sure that I had a somewhat even surface.
Step 3- Then, I took 1 inch foam (you can go bigger if you want a deeper tuft), cut it to size, and used contact cement to attach it to the wood of the headboard.
Step 4- Next I covered the 1 inch foam with a layer of batting. I attached it with a staple gun on the back of the headboard.
Step 5- After the batting, I attached the fabric in the same fashion. In addition I also used staples on the sides of the headboard for security and aesthetics. Tip: When attaching the fabric make sure to pull it tight to ensure no sagging or ripples.
Now to the tufting!!!
Step 6- Create your buttons. You can find tufting buttons in a kit at most craft stores. I got mine at Wal-Mart. You start with this piece of plastic below.
Set your fabric on top of the plastic piece upside down.
Place your button to be covered on top of the fabric and push down until the button is inside the plastic piece.
Fold the fabric down.
Place the back on the button on top of the folded down fabric.
Place the blue plastic piece (also included in the kit from Wal-Mart) on top of the button back and use a hammer to force the button back into the button front securing the fabric in between.
Viola!! I super cute button!
I needed 10 for my headboard.
To be continued tomorrow. . .
